Day 1

lax - chi town - Madrid

It's weird how life can change so drastically from year to year. When 2011 began, I made a list of goals that I wanted to achieve in order to find a purpose again and get over the bs of 2010. To this point, I've accomplished almost all of them: I ran a half marathon, made the gym my second home, traveled to New York, began the process of getting my single subject credential (only 1 test away!), bought a kindle and read A LOT, saved some $, and fell in love a little (albeit with a total dbag - oops!).

There are only 3 things that I still need to cross off my list before the year is over. I need to get back to writing, move to spain, and find a good guy/ half orange/ bouncing green arrow (this is more of a dream than an actual goal, obviously).  Right now I'm typing this on my flight to Spain, so check that off. This blog will hopefully keep the creative writing juices flowing (plus I definitely offered to help a bunch of friends with their essays.. Keep 'em coming people!). And, although I'm 100% single, there is an amazing guy out there who has my # and uses it often (insert puppy love smile here). So, we'll see! There are 4 months left in 2011, and I couldn't be more excited to see what crazy surprises they have in store.

As I sit on this plane from Chicago to Madrid, I can't help but think about home and all of the friends and family members that I miss so much already. So many of you are engaged, newly married, expecting babies, buying new houses, and working your butts off in school or work. My happiness cup overflows when I think about all of you. I love how crazy our adventures are and how lucky we are to have each other. Because of our busy lives, itll be hard to stay in contact while I'm gone. Hard, but no impossible! Feel free to follow my blog (no guarantees that it'll be interesting!), Facebook me, leave me messages on heytell, or send me letters whenever you have a chance. I'll post my new mailing address when I get settled later today. Without your encouragement, there is no way that I would be sitting on this plane as excited as I am right now. In May I got called a "free spirit" - as if it was a bad thing - but you all made me believe that this Spain adventure was EXACTLY the choice I had to make at this point in my life. I can't believe it's actually happening!

I'll write all about day 1 part 2 when I meet the family later tonight!

Paz. Amor. Besitos.  xxx
